About the Hawkes Bay

Hawke's bay sits on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island. The regions long, hot summers and cool winters offer the best weather for growing grapes. The climate is dry and temperate. Hawke's Bay is renowned for its horticulture with large orchards and vineyards on the plains, offering employment for seasonal visitors from abroad.

The region offers visitors beautiful scenery, spectacular views, a huge range of activities of every kind.

On February 3, 1931, Napier and Hastings were devastated by an earthquake measuring 7.9. The cities were rebuilt in the years following years both are now world famous for their Art Deco buildings. This is remembered during the month of February and is something not to be missed.
